Reservations:
Initial deposits can be made by credit card or cheques, with the balance to be paid by cheque, credit card, money order, or any other method that suits your convenience.

Deposits must be received within 7 days of the booking in order to protect your reservation. Early reservations are recommended, since our group size is limited and some trips sell out far in advance. Note that certain other non-refundable items may require full payment at the time of reservation.

Deposit/Payment Schedule:

Deposit: $1000 Canadian (due within 7 days of booking)
90 days before departure - the balance of the trip cost is due
Booking within 90 days - full balance of the trip must be paid at time of booking

Trip Prices:
Horizon guarantees that your trip price will not change once they have received your deposit. All trip prices are in Canadian dollars and are based on double or single occupancy.

Solo Travellers:
Solo travellers wishing to occupy a private room must pay the single supplement (essentially the surcharge hotels charge us for single occupancy).

Solo travellers wishing to share a twin room with another solo traveller (and thereby avoid the single supplement) should make this wish known at the time of booking and we will do everything possible to find a matching pair. The trip price based on a shared arrangement will be guaranteed at 90 days if we have succeeded in finding a partner.

Regrettably, if one person in a shared arrangements cancels for any reason outside of 90 days, or if we are unable to find a partner, the remaining solo traveller will be required to pay the single supplement.

Disabilities:
We are committed to the belief that medical conditions or disabilities shouldn't prevent people from experiencing the joys of travel, but we rely upon the travellers to disclose this information to us at the time of booking.

We will do everything possible to accommodate traveller conditions at a reasonable cost, including finding local companions to provide assistance, but in some situations we may require the traveller to be accompanied by a qualified companion for the duration of the trip.

Any traveller who fails to disclose such a condition at the time of booking may be removed from the tour and sent home at their expense and with the loss of any unused portion of the trip price.

Horizon Cancellations:
We regret that occasionally it is necessary to cancel a trip, and Horizon reserves the right to cancel any trip at any time for any reason if there are too few participants or if the quality of the trip or the safety of the travellers is judged to be compromised. In such circumstances, refund of all payments received by Horizon shall constitute full settlement.

Horizon is not responsible for any additional loss incurred on travel arrangements or air tickets due to a trip cancellation.

Traveller Cancellations:
If a traveller cancels a trip more than 90 days before a departure, we will refund the deposit less an administration fee of $250usd/person. Cancellations within 90 days are subject to significant cancellation penalties that correspond to the timing and scale of the financial risk of Horizon in relation to the departure.

The risk results from non-recoverable advance payments that we make on your behalf to local suppliers and government agencies, communication expenses, and the loss of time to re-sell your space.

We commit to investing the time, energy and resources in researching, planning and operating our trips, and we ask our travellers to commit to investing in managing their risk through the purchase of trip cancellation insurance.

If it becomes necessary for you to cancel you trip, you should notify us in writing immediately. The cancellation terms are as follows:

Outside 90 days - $250usd
61 to 90 days- 25% of trip price
31-60 days- 50% of trip price
0-30 days   - 100% of trip price

Transfers:
Travellers may transfer to other trips offered by Horizon in the same calendar year for an administration fee of $50usd per person by notifying us no later than 90 days prior to the departure date of their trip.

Changes:
Published itineraries are subject to change or modification at any time at Horizon's discretion due to changing conditions in the field. Any changes to the reservation at the request of the traveller are subject to an administrative fee of $50usd per person.

Taxes:
The GST (Good and Service Tax) is not included in the trip.

Visas:
Visas may be required to enter some of the countries on our itineraries, and in certain cases additional costs may be involved. We don't include the costs of these visas in our trip prices, but we do offer a pre-trip service of arranging your visa for you - please contact us for details.
